Privacy Policy

Thank you for using Mera-Sanjog (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use:

  • The mobile applications (Android and iOS)

  • Our website and related domains

  • Any other related services, features, or content (collectively, the “Services”)

Reading this Privacy Policy will help you understand what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it to operate a Sikh community platform, and what rights and choices you have.

If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Services.

About Mera-Sanjog

Mera-Sanjog is a Sikh community platform. It is not a dating app and it is not a matrimony search engine.

The app helps you begin the day with the Hukamnama from Sri Darbar Sahib, read the Sikh Rehat Maryada, follow a daily moment from Sikh history, and find Gurdwaras, kirtan, langar, seva, and Gurbani sessions near you — wherever in the world you are.

The Sangat tab lists Partner Sikh organisations and Gurdwaras local to you, their upcoming programmes, and how to take part.

Introductions for Anand Karaj are available within the platform, but only through your Partner Organisation. Mera-Sanjog does not suggest anyone. There is no member search, no browse, and no profile feed. You will only ever see a family your Gurdwara or Sikh organisation has recommended. A conversation opens only if the other family accepts, and you may have at most two open at once. You can pause introductions at any time and continue using every other part of the app.

1. Summary

The table below gives you the key points. The full detail follows in the sections after it.

What we collect

Information you provide when creating a profile or contacting support; information generated automatically by your use of the app (device data, usage logs); and information related to Partner Organisation verification.

Why we collect it

To operate the Sikh community platform — including the Hukamnama feed, Sikh history content, Sangat tab (Gurdwaras, events, seva), and, where your Partner Organisation has made a recommendation,

to facilitate that introduction.

Who we share it with

Partner Organisations (Gurdwaras and Sikh institutions) when you are enrolled with one, and service providers who help us operate the platform. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Your controls

You can access, correct, or delete your information at any time. You can pause introductions without losing access to community features. You can delete your account in Profile → Delete Account.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

Account and contact details

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Mobile phone number

  • Password or authentication credentials (or identifiers from Apple or Google sign-in)

  • Date of birth (to confirm you are 18 or over)

  • Gender

Community and profile information

Because Mera-Sanjog is a community platform, you may choose to provide information about yourself and your family. This is used to populate your profile and, if your Partner Organisation makes an introduction recommendation, to share that profile with the recommended family. You are never required to provide any particular field.

  • Level of Sikh faith practice and religious involvement

  • Education and profession

  • Marital status

  • Height and other basic biographical details

  • City, region, and country

  • Languages spoken

  • Family background and structure

  • Photos you upload to your profile

Note on sensitive information

Mera-Sanjog does not collect or display caste or qaum information.

Verification and trust information

  • Identity information submitted for Partner Organisation verification (verified in person by your Gurdwara or Sikh institution — we do not hold copies of identity documents)

  • The name of the Partner Organisation that has verified you

  • Information you provide in reports or safety concerns

Communications and support

  • Messages you send us via email, in-app support, or contact forms

  • Content from customer support interactions

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you use the app, we automatically collect:

  • Device information — device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone

  • Log data — IP address, access times, crash logs

  • Usage information — which screens you visit, how long you spend in the app, actions you take

  • Approximate location derived from IP address or device settings (city / country level), used to show nearby Gurdwaras and events in the Sangat tab. We do not collect or store precise GPS coordinates without your explicit permission.

2.3 What we do not collect

Because of how introductions work in Mera-Sanjog, several data points common on other platforms do not exist here:

  • We do not collect swipe history, like history, or browsing history through member profiles — there is no browse or search.

  • We do not collect algorithmic preference signals from profile discovery — introductions come from your Partner Organisation, not from the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 To operate the community platform

  • Deliver the daily Hukamnama from Sri Darbar Sahib

  • Display Today in Sikh History and Sikh Rehat Maryada content

  • Show Gurdwaras, kirtan, langar, seva, and events near you in the Sangat tab

  • Create and manage your account

3.2 To facilitate Partner Organisation introductions

  • Share your profile with the Partner Organisation that verified you, so their representative can make a recommendation

  • Display the recommended profile to the other family, labelled with the recommending organisation

  • Enable a conversation when both families have accepted the introduction

  • Enforce the two-conversation limit and the pause-introductions control

3.3 Safety, security, and verification

  • Support in-person verification by Partner Organisations

  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse

  • Enforce Terms of Use and Child Safety Standards

  • Process reports and enforce block actions — a block removes the blocked person from all surfaces immediately and notifies our moderation team

3.4 Legal and regulatory compliance

  • Comply with applicable Canadian law (PIPEDA) and local laws in the regions where users are located

  • Respond to lawful requests from law enforcement or courts

  • Maintain records required for legal and audit purposes

3.5 Communication

  • Send service messages — account verification, security alerts, policy changes

  • Send notifications about introductions, requests, and messages

  • Send community updates about Gurdwara programmes and Sikh events (where you have opted in)

4. Partner Organisations (Gurdwaras and Sikh Institutions)

4.1 What Partner Organisations are

Partner Organisations are Gurdwaras and registered Sikh institutions that have signed a formal agreement with IkTake Digital Inc. to participate in the Mera-Sanjog platform. They verify members in person, checking government-issued identity before approving a profile. They may also recommend a member to another family for an introduction.

Current Partner Organisations include Sikh Missionary College (India & Canada) and Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara (Surrey, Canada).

4.2 What Partner Organisations can see

If you are enrolled with a Partner Organisation, that organisation’s authorised representative can see:

  • Your profile information (name, age, city, faith practice, family background, and any photos you have made visible)

  • Your verification status and the date it was confirmed

  • Whether a recommendation has been sent on your behalf and whether it has been accepted

Partner Organisations cannot see your conversation content, your messages, or the profiles of members they did not verify.

4.3 How Partner Organisations may use your information

A Partner Organisation may use the information described above only to:

  • Confirm that you are a member of their Sangat

  • Make a recommendation on your behalf to another family

  • Display the ‘Verified by [Organisation]’ badge on your profile

They may not use this information for fundraising, general marketing, or any purpose unrelated to the introduction programme.

4.4 Your choices

Enrolment with a Partner Organisation is optional. You can:

  • Choose whether to associate your profile with a Partner Organisation

  • Request to change your Partner Organisation

  • Pause introductions at any time from Profile — you keep full access to Hukamnama, Sikh History, Sangat, and all community features

  • Withdraw from introductions entirely by deleting your account

5. When Information Is Shared

5.1 With Partner Organisations

As described in Section 4. Only the organisation you are enrolled with can see your profile.

5.2 With other members

Your profile is visible to another member only when your Partner Organisation has made a mutual introduction recommendation and both families have accepted. Before acceptance, photos are locked. After acceptance, the profile you see is labelled with the recommending organisation.

There is no general profile visibility. Members who have not been recommended to you cannot find or view your profile.

5.3 With service providers

Third-party companies help us operate the platform:

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers

  • Analytics and crash reporting tools

  • Email, SMS, and push notification providers

  • Payment processors (if a paid feature is purchased)

These providers may access information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are required to protect it.

5.4 For legal and safety reasons

Information may be disclosed when we have a good-faith belief it is necessary to:

  • Comply with a law, regulation, or valid legal process

  • Protect the safety of users, Partner Organisations, or the public

  • Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security issues, or abuse

  • Act on reports related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or violations of our Child Safety Standards

5.5 Business transfers

If the business is acquired or merged, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. Any successor will be required to honour this Privacy Policy or provide notice of changes.

5.6 What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with advertisers. Mera-Sanjog is ad-free.

6. Location Data

The Sangat tab uses your approximate location (city or region level, derived from IP address or your device’s region setting) to show nearby Gurdwaras and Sikh events. We do not collect or store precise GPS coordinates unless you explicitly grant location permission in your device settings. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device’s app settings.

7. International Data Transfers

Mera-Sanjog is operated from Canada by IkTake Digital Inc. (2575609 Alberta Inc.). Information may be processed and stored in other countries where our service providers operate. These locations may have different data-protection laws. When information is transferred internationally, we use contractual safeguards consistent with applicable law, including PIPEDA.

8. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your information for as long as is necessary to provide the platform, fulfil the purposes in this policy, and meet legal obligations.

  • Profile and account information — retained while your account is active.

  • If you delete your account — profile and most associated data are removed or anonymised within 30 days, subject to technical and backup retention.

  • Certain records (transaction logs, safety records) — retained longer as required by law or for fraud prevention and dispute resolution.

  • Content connected to safety investigations — retained as long as required under applicable law.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS / TLS)

  • Access controls and least-privilege principles for staff and systems

  • Secure development and deployment practices

  • Regular review of access permissions

No system can guarantee perfect security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at [email protected].

10. Children and Child Safety

Mera-Sanjog is for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow minors to create accounts or collect information from children. Date of birth is required at registration and accounts created by users under 18 are rejected.

If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will close it and delete associated information, subject to any legal obligation to retain it.

Our Child Safety & CSAE Standards describe our zero-tolerance approach to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Those standards are published at mera-meet.com/child-safety-csae-standards.

If you encounter any content or behaviour that may involve CSAE or CSAM, please report it immediately through in-app reporting or by emailing [email protected].

Separate Child Safety & CSAE Standards describe the zero‑tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM), the steps taken to respond to reports, and the child‑safety point of contact. Those standards can be reviewed at:

https://mera-meet.com/child-safety-csae-standards

If you believe a child is using the Services or you encounter any content or behavior that may involve CSAE or CSAM, please notify us immediately through in‑app reporting tools or by contacting us using the details below.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you

  • Correction — update inaccurate or incomplete information directly in your profile

  • Deletion — delete your account from Profile → Delete Account; most data is removed within 30 days

  • Objection or restriction — object to or restrict certain processing

  • Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing (for example, marketing emails)

  • Pause introductions — pause the introductions feature without losing access to any other part of the app

Residents of Canada (PIPEDA), certain US states, the EU / EEA, and the UK may have additional rights under local law. We will honour those rights in accordance with applicable legislation. To make a request, contact [email protected].

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the ‘Last updated’ date at the top of this page

  • Provide in-app notification or email notice where appropriate

Continued use of Mera-Sanjog after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
